Lamina
Privacy policy
Last updated: 06/08/2026
1. Definitions
In this Privacy Policy:
“Lamina” and “the App” mean the Lamina macOS application.
“Lamina Pro” means the paid features unlocked within the App.
“Website” means lamina-app.com and does not mean the Lamina macOS application.
“we”, “us” and “our” mean Vale Florea as the provider of Lamina and operator of the Website.
2. Overview
Lamina processes images, captured screen content, measurements, guides and annotations locally on the user’s Mac.
Lamina does not require a Lamina account.
The App does not contain advertising tracking, behavioural profiling or third-party usage analytics. It does not send opened images, captured screen content, measurements, guides or annotations to us.
This Privacy Policy explains the limited cases in which data is processed when a person:
uses Lamina;
activates, validates or deactivates a Lamina Pro licence;
visits the Website;
purchases Lamina Pro; or
contacts us.
3. Controller
The controller responsible for the processing carried out by Vale Florea is:
Vale Florea
Johann-Verresiusstr. 14
2502 Biel/Bienne
Switzerland
Email: hello@lamina-app.com
Lemon Squeezy separately processes checkout, payment, invoicing, tax, fraud-prevention and refund data as Merchant of Record under its own privacy terms.
4. Data processed locally by Lamina
The following data may be processed and stored locally on the Mac:
images and captured screen content;
measurements, guides and annotations;
application settings;
trial information;
licence status; and
the licence instance ID returned during activation.
This information is not uploaded to us.
4.1 Local history
If History is enabled, Lamina stores up to the ten most recent work states locally in the App’s application-data folder.
These local work states may contain images or captured screen content visible in the user’s recent Lamina sessions.
The history remains on the Mac. It is not uploaded or synchronised by Lamina.
The user can disable History and delete its stored work states from within the App.
Users remain responsible for the content they open, capture and store and for ensuring that they are permitted to process it.
5. Screen-recording permission
Lamina’s capture function requires access to screen content.
macOS therefore asks the user to grant Screen Recording or Screen and System Audio Recording permission when the capture function is used.
The selected screen area is processed locally. Lamina does not transmit the captured image to us.
The permission can be reviewed or withdrawn in macOS System Settings under Privacy & Security. Withdrawing it may prevent the capture function from working.
6. Connections made by the App
The overlay, comparison, measurement and annotation functions operate locally. Certain update and licence functions use an internet connection.
6.1 GitHub
Lamina may contact GitHub, provided by GitHub, Inc. in the United States, to:
check whether a newer Lamina version is available; and
retrieve limited application configuration, such as the end date of a promotional-price period.
The connection exposes the user’s IP address and the technical request data generated by the connection to GitHub.
Lamina does not send images, captured screen content, measurements, annotations, licence keys or payment information to GitHub.
Where the GDPR applies, this processing is based on our legitimate interest in maintaining and correctly operating the App.
6.2 Initial licence activation
When the user activates Lamina Pro, the App sends the following data to Lemon Squeezy:
the licence key; and
the computer name assigned in macOS System Settings.
The computer name is a user-selected name. It may contain personal information, such as a first name or full name.
The computer name is used only as the visible label for the activation.
Lamina does not send a hardware identifier, device serial number or usage data during activation.
As with any internet request, Lemon Squeezy also receives the IP address and technical connection data required to process the request.
Lemon Squeezy returns a licence instance ID. Lamina stores that instance ID locally in license.json in the App’s configuration folder.
6.3 Licence validation at App start
When Lamina starts and an internet connection is available, it asks Lemon Squeezy whether the licence and the activated instance are still valid.
For this request, Lamina sends:
the licence key; and
the locally stored licence instance ID.
If no connection is available, no validation request is made. Lamina uses the last known licence status.
The App does not require a permanent internet connection and does not require a Lamina account.
6.4 Licence deactivation
When a user chooses Deactivate on this Mac, Lamina sends the licence key and the instance ID to Lemon Squeezy so that the activation can be released.
6.5 Activation records
A licence key is associated with the purchase from which it was issued.
The licence service records information including:
the computer name used as the activation label;
the time an activation was created;
the time an activation was released, where applicable;
the licence status; and
the associated order and customer record.
These records are used to administer the three-activation limit, provide support, release unavailable activations, detect published or misused keys and enforce the licence terms.
No image content or App-usage history is included in these activation records.
Where the GDPR applies, licence activation and validation are necessary to perform the software licence agreement and to protect the legitimate interest in preventing unauthorised key sharing and licence misuse.
7. Website hosting
The Website is created and hosted using services provided by Framer B.V., Rozengracht 207B, 1016 LZ Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
When a person visits the Website, Framer and its infrastructure providers process technical data required to deliver and secure the Website. This may include:
the IP address;
browser and device information;
operating-system information;
the requested page;
the referring page;
the date and time of the request; and
server and security-log data.
Where the GDPR applies, this processing is based on our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional Website.
8. Framer Analytics
The Website uses Framer Analytics to obtain aggregated information about Website use.
Framer Analytics does not use cookies or persistent visitor identifiers. To calculate daily unique visitors, Framer hashes the visitor’s IP address and user agent using a secret value that is rotated and deleted daily.
The resulting statistics may include:
page views;
daily unique visitors;
visited pages;
referring sources;
approximate geographic origin; and
device type.
We receive aggregated statistics and use them to understand and improve the Website.
Framer Analytics does not create persistent visitor profiles and is not used by us to identify individual visitors or track them across different days or websites.
Where the GDPR applies, this processing is based on our legitimate interest in measuring and improving the Website.
9. Domain, DNS and email services
The lamina-app.com domain, associated DNS services and the email address hello@lamina-app.com are provided through Hostpoint AG, Neue Jonastrasse 60, 8640 Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland.
Hostpoint processes the technical data required to provide and secure these services.
10. Email communication
When a person contacts us by email, we process:
the sender’s name and email address;
the message content;
attachments;
the date and time of the communication; and
technical email-delivery information.
We use this information to answer requests, provide support, verify purchases, release licence activations and process refund requests.
Users should not send passwords, complete payment-card information or unnecessary confidential material by email.
Where the GDPR applies, the processing is based on a contract, steps requested before entering into a contract, compliance with legal obligations or our legitimate interest in communicating with users and customers.
11. Purchasing Lamina Pro
Purchases of Lamina Pro are processed by:
Link, LLC f/k/a Lemon Squeezy LLC
354 Oyster Point Blvd
South San Francisco, CA 94080
USA
The company operates the Lemon Squeezy service and acts as Merchant of Record and authorised reseller.
The customer enters payment and billing information directly in Lemon Squeezy’s checkout. Lemon Squeezy processes the payment, invoice, applicable indirect taxes, fraud checks, chargebacks and refunds under its own Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy.
The Lamina application itself is available as a free download from the Website. The customer does not purchase a separate application file. The purchase provides a licence key that unlocks Lamina Pro in the downloaded App.
The licence key is sent to the email address entered during checkout.
A Lamina licence and its activation records can be associated with the corresponding order. The information available to us may include:
the customer’s name;
the customer’s email address;
the order number and purchase date;
the purchased product;
the licence key;
the licence and activation status;
the computer names used as activation labels;
the creation and release times of activations; and
the refund or chargeback status.
Depending on the applicable tax requirements and the information made available by Lemon Squeezy, additional country, billing, order or tax information may be processed by Lemon Squeezy or made available in the merchant account.
We do not receive complete payment-card numbers, online-banking login details or payment credentials.
We use the available order and licence information only to:
deliver and administer the licence;
provide support;
release activations;
process refund requests;
detect fraud or licence misuse;
resolve order or licence problems; and
comply with legal and accounting obligations.
12. Google Search Console
We use Google Search Console to understand how the Website appears in Google search results and to identify indexing problems.
Google Search Console provides aggregated information from Google’s search services. It does not add a Search Console tracking script or Search Console cookie to the Website.
Google’s processing of people who use Google services is governed by Google’s own privacy terms.
13. Cookies, checkout integration and external services
Framer Analytics does not use cookies or persistent identifiers.
The Website uses the third-party script lemon.js, provided by Lemon Squeezy, to open and operate the Lemon Squeezy checkout overlay.
When lemon.js is loaded, Lemon Squeezy may receive the visitor’s IP address and standard technical request information, such as browser information, the time of the request and the requested resource.
When a visitor opens the checkout, the checkout is displayed through Lemon Squeezy’s service. Information entered during the purchase is processed by Lemon Squeezy under its own Privacy Policy and Buyer Terms.
The lemon.js integration is used to provide the requested checkout function. We do not currently use it for advertising, behavioural profiling or referral attribution.
When a person opens another external service, that service may process data under its own privacy and cookie terms.
If referral or affiliate tracking is introduced, it may use a referral identifier, cookie, browser storage or another attribution method. Any non-essential referral tracking will be described in this Privacy Policy and activated only after any legally required consent has been obtained.
The use of a promotional code entered directly during checkout does not by itself require Lamina to track the customer’s activity on the Website.
Referral or checkout functions do not give Lemon Squeezy or a referral partner access to images, screenshots, measurements, guides, annotations or local History data processed in Lamina.
14. Promotional codes and referral links
We may use promotional codes and referral links in connection with Lamina Pro.
A promotional code entered directly during checkout does not by itself require Lamina to track the customer’s activity on the Website. The code and its redemption may be recorded as part of the corresponding Lemon Squeezy order.
Where referral or affiliate links are enabled, a link may contain a referral code or another identifier that assigns a visit or later purchase to a referral partner.
Depending on the technical configuration used by Lemon Squeezy, referral attribution may involve:
a referral identifier contained in the link;
an anonymous identifier created by Lemon Squeezy;
a cookie or similar browser storage;
cookieless referral tracking; or
referral information added to a Lemon Squeezy checkout link.
The referral identifier may remain valid for the attribution period configured for the relevant referral programme.
Referral information may include:
the referral or affiliate identifier;
the source or page from which the visit originated;
the date and time of the referral;
whether a qualifying purchase was completed;
the order attributed to the referral; and
the status of any resulting commission.
This information is used to attribute eligible purchases, calculate commissions, prevent referral abuse and administer promotional partnerships.
A referral partner may receive referral, commission and payout information made available through Lemon Squeezy’s affiliate system. We do not provide referral partners with licence keys, complete payment details, images processed in Lamina or information about how the App is used.
Where consent is required for cookies, browser storage or other non-essential tracking technologies, the relevant referral tracking will be activated only after the required consent has been obtained.
Referral tracking does not give us or the referral partner access to images, screenshots, measurements, guides, annotations or local History data processed by Lamina.
15. Recipients and service providers
Personal data may be processed by the following recipients where required:
Framer B.V. and its infrastructure providers for Website hosting and, if enabled, analytics;
Hostpoint AG for domain, DNS and email services;
GitHub, Inc. for App update checks and limited configuration requests;
Lemon Squeezy and its payment, tax, fraud-prevention and affiliate-service providers for orders, licences, refunds, promotional codes and referral attribution;
professional advisers, accountants or authorities where legally required; and
technical providers used to maintain and secure the services.
We do not sell personal data.
16. International transfers
Hostpoint provides the domain, DNS and email services described above from Switzerland. Framer B.V. is established in the Netherlands.
GitHub and Lemon Squeezy are based in the United States. Their services and subprocessors may process personal data in the United States or other countries.
The purchase of Lamina Pro therefore involves the transfer of checkout, order and customer information to Lemon Squeezy in the United States. Licence activation and validation requests are also sent to Lemon Squeezy in the United States.
Where personal data is transferred to a country without an adequate level of data protection, the relevant provider may rely on an applicable adequacy framework, standard contractual clauses or another legally permitted safeguard.
Further information about international transfers and the safeguards used is available in the relevant provider’s privacy and data-processing documentation.
17. Retention
Images, captured screen content, annotations and measurements remain under the user’s control on the Mac.
If History is enabled, Lamina retains no more than the ten most recent local work states. The user can disable or delete the local history.
Licence and activation information is retained for as long as needed to administer the licence, enforce activation limits, provide support, detect misuse and establish or defend legal claims.
Accounting and transaction records are retained where required by Swiss law, generally for ten years from the end of the relevant financial year.
Support emails are retained for as long as needed to resolve the request and meet legal or accounting obligations.
Technical logs are retained according to the policies of the relevant service provider.
18. Rights
Depending on the applicable law, a person may have rights including:
access to personal data;
a copy of personal data;
correction of inaccurate data;
deletion of data that is no longer required;
restriction of certain processing;
objection to certain processing; and
data portability in applicable cases.
These rights may be limited where data must be retained for an active licence, a legal obligation or the establishment or defence of legal claims.
Requests can be sent to hello@lamina-app.com. We may need to verify the requester’s identity.
A person may also contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner. Where the GDPR applies, a complaint may be made to the competent supervisory authority.
19. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse and alteration.
No internet transmission, software system or storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
20. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated when the App, Website, licence system or service providers change.
The date at the top identifies the current version.
