• Save what you are doing as a Lamina document — the image, your measurements, annotations, guides, the grid with its zero point, the colour palette, opacity and window size, all in one file.

• Open one with ⌘O, from File › Open Recent, or by double-clicking it in the Finder. Lamina starts if it is not already running.

• Save with ⌘S, Save as … with ⇧⌘S. Both sit in the new File menu, next to Open and Export as PNG.

• A document opens on the screen you are working on — never on the desktop it happened to be saved from. So you can hand the file to someone else without sending them somewhere.

• The toolbar becomes the menu. Click the disk and the tools step aside for Save, Save as … and Export as PNG. Escape brings them back.

One thing to know before you update: ⌘S now saves the document. Exporting a PNG has moved to ⌘E. The keystroke you have in your fingers still works — it just makes a document now instead of a flat image.

Pick a colour with Tab. Hold the pointer over any colour and press Tab: the value goes to your clipboard and into your palette in one keystroke. If the eyedropper is off, it opens as you do it, so you can see where the colour lands.

Your last sessions are safe now. Lamina used to write a session only when you closed the image, so quitting with ⌘Q lost it. It writes as you work now, whatever you change — measurements, guides, grid, colours. And Open Recent shows real dates instead of claiming that everything happened today.

Notes take bullet lists. Type a dash and a space at the start of a line and it becomes a bullet. Return carries the list on, an empty bullet ends it. Wrapped lines line up under the text instead of under the dot, on screen and in the exported PNG.

Fixed. Closing the window with ⌘W left it on screen instead of hiding it. Pasting with ⌘V now inserts a copied measurement when there is no image in the clipboard, instead of reporting that it found nothing. And the field you type notes in has an even border on all four sides.

• Every click with the eyedropper now keeps the color. Four swatches sit next to the tool: click one to copy it, ⌘-click to drop it.

• The dots button opens a color manager with everything you collected — larger swatches, editable values, drag to reorder, and Copy all or Copy as CSS for a style guide.

• Colors belong to the image, not to the app: they travel with the session, come back when you reopen it from Recent, and start empty on a new one.

Text annotations, rebuilt. They used to run off in a single line and were hard to read on light screenshots. Now the text wraps inside a width you set by dragging the sides, and the note sits on its own background, so it holds up over anything. Return starts a new line, ⌘Enter finishes — and the note stays visible while you keep working underneath.

Windows behave. Grid, colors and preferences now open centered over Lamina — on the screen you are working on, not on the primary one — and they fade in instead of appearing and jumping into place. Clicking the same button again closes them.

The same answer everywhere. Anything that works flashes green, anything that doesn't flashes red, and a warning keeps the window glowing until you decide. Applying grid settings and setting a shortcut say so now, too.

Fixed. With compare and grid both on, placing the zero point moved the second image instead of setting the point.

• The toolbar kept slipping into German whatever language you had chosen. The grid buttons and their tooltips are now translated everywhere, and the wording says what a button does rather than what it leaves behind.

• The message at the end of the trial listed the wrong tools. It now names exactly what the free version keeps for good: overlay, capture, opacity and lock.

• In compare mode the view and alignment buttons sit on one continuous surface again, instead of breaking into two.

• Set a base value and the grid draws exactly that. 20 means 20 — and the − and + buttons double and halve from there.

• Put the zero point wherever your design starts, either by clicking with the origin tool or by typing coordinates. Rulers, grid and guides all count from that point.

• The origin snaps to image edges, guides and the edges of your measurements, so you can place it on the first element without aiming for the pixel.

• Guides snap to the grid, and the grid can be baked into the PNG export.

• The licence window confirms in green and stays open. It used to close itself before you could read what happened.

• The drop screen now has a Licence button — including after the trial has ended, when you have just bought a key and need somewhere to put it.

• Lamina keeps looking for updates while it runs, not only at startup. It sits in the menu bar for weeks, so a start-only check rarely came around.

• Lay any image over your screen as a transparent sheet, lock it click-through, and keep working underneath.

• Capture any area of the screen and it becomes the sheet — pixel-exact on Retina, where an ordinary screenshot comes back twice the size of what it shows.

• Reach it from anywhere with a system-wide shortcut (⇧⌘2 by default, and yours to change). Lamina can wait in the menu bar and opens on whichever desktop you are working on.

• Measure distances, sizes and gaps, pull guides out of the rulers and let everything snap.

• Compare two images by blending, sliding between them, or switching to difference view where identical pixels turn black.

• Annotate with numbers and text, then export a full-resolution PNG with everything baked in.

• Your last ten sessions are kept, so closing a window costs you nothing — reopen one from Edit › Open Recent, measurements and all.

• Eight interface languages, automatic updates, and no account. Everything stays on your Mac.
